For most of my life I have photographed my family and friends close to home. For 25 years I lived and worked in Manhattan and spent summers in an Adirondack camp in upstate NY. I photographed life in the big city, in faraway places and up on the lake - artists and activists, builders and guides, children at school and play, trains and boats, water and light, dance and theater on and off the stage. My work is inspired by the interplay of movement and light, geometry and geography. I love to look, to learn, and find understanding through the lens, to capture compositions of color, line, rhythm, texture, and space. My favorite images have a sense of strength and light, balance and breath - stories without words, woven into a frame.
